We apologize for any inconvenience.
It was a simple plan, really. Get up early enough to catch the 11 a.m. train to Ravenna for the Sangiovese wine festival. Doing so on a Sunday morning is truly easier said than done, but the prospect of a fall festival of wine before of us (with, yes, those really awesome wine holders) is enough to get us up and out of bed.
So of course, you can imagine our shock and utter disappointment when TrenItalia decided to go on strike for the day - or the week, still not really sure - because like a lot of things in this country, there was no warning. No advisory when we looked online to get tickets, or warning in the newspaper (local or national). Just two sad Americans looking up at the Arrivals and Departures board and seeing no trains would be running to Ravenna this rainy Sunday.
Who knows if we'll be here in Italy next year, but if by chance we are (or you are as well) check out the GiovinBacco November 2010 in Ravenna. In the meantime, here's to already looking forward to next weekend and whatever may... or may not... happen.
