Chocolate & The City

{photo credit: Giancarlo Bononi}

It's that time of year again here in Bologna, the annual Chocolate Festival hits Piazza Maggiore next weekend, and we have officially begun the countdown to the festivities!

Every November, over a 100 exhibitors showcase their chocolate delicacies from the major production districts around Italy like Tuscany, Piedmont and Sicily, as well as Valle D'Aosta, Sardinia, Puglia and of course Emilia Romagna. A chocolate lovers dream come true!

The festival also holds daily lessons on how to make chocolate and gelato (with samples of course!) and holds a variety of events scattered throughout the city. Other events include: the Nero Cioccoshow, a blindfolded chocolate guide for your senses, delicious photographs by Bolognese Giancarlo Bononi, as well as the Chocolate Hot Show where you'll find the famous corset designed by La Perla for Victoria Beckham and the proceeds go to benefit research against Breast Cancer.

Hey,

My wife and I have been following your blog for a few months. We live in Bologna, as well. However, I am so slow at picking up the festivals that you seem to know about. We used to live in another province and it was so easy b/c there was a section in the paper. But we can't find it here.

Thanks.

Hi Lou,

Thanks for following! Here is a great website for finding food and wine festivals in Emilia-Romagna- http://www.winefoodfestivalemiliaromagna.com/

I have to admit I'm also always on the internet googling sagre in Italy as nothing is ever advertised, only (as you know) is word of mouth!

Enjoy!!
