Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Fake Christmas Tree

Maybe it's Bologna, or maybe it's Italy, but finding a real Christmas Tree has been virtually impossible for us. So, what do you do when you want to get a tree, and the real thing is nowhere to be found? For us, head to the Christmas Market and pick ourselves up one of these fake beauties, everyone in Bologna is doing it ( I promise!).

So off to the mercato we went, with our picky-tree selves, to get our very first fake Christmas Tree.

First option- Too skinny...

Second option- Hello, 1984 ribbons...

Third option- Juuuustttt right.

Taking our newly bought fake tree home, down the porticoes...

And across the Piazza...

And home to set-up. In true Italian fashion, building and decorating with a glass of wine and in American fashion with Itunes radio playing Christmas Music (while I watched, took photos and laughed... for the joy of the season)

And when she's all finished (Looks real, right? Say yes, even if it doesn't)...

...you celebrate with another glass of wine, and relax.

Yup, we did it too 4 years ago. I thought, never a fake tree, but my husband refuses to "kill one" as he says. So shiny, very green, EVER green goes back up this coming weekend! On the plus side: 1) you don't have to sweep up needles and 2) you can place the branches just as you want them, no holes! :)
